Hey there! I’m Joshua, a music teacher turned IT guy, proudly Belgian and the sole creator behind VylmoriaTCG. When COVID hit, I swapped classroom instruments for computer screens, and after hours you’d still find me dreaming up new card ideas or jamming out with friends on guitar and vocals.
I grew up collecting Pokémon and Yu-Gi-Oh! cards, then dived into competitive Yu-Gi-Oh! with my buddies after graduation. I loved the deep combos… but sometimes those games flew by in two turns. I daydreamed about a slower, more “chill” card game where every play mattered.
Rewind to summer 2018: a friend and I whipped up a makeshift card game for a beach trip and I became obsessed with the idea of my own TCG. But life got busy, and that prototype sat on a shelf until early 2025, when my friend rediscovered it. All those unfinished ideas I had in 2018 came rushing back, and I decided it was time to turn them into something real.
I let mechanics spark the story. Ninja stealth came from my love of ninjas. Toxic status effects came from RPGs I’ve played. When inspiration strikes, whether it’s from a random moment in my day or a jam session riff, I create a card, load it into Tabletop Simulator, and tweak until it feels just right. My friends help with playtesting, but everything else is just a solo project.
Vylmoria’s sweet spot is about 20–30 minutes per duel: quick enough for a lunch break, but slow enough for cool back-and-forth tactics and clutch comebacks. Rules are straightforward, yet there’s room for surprising combos and “aha!” moments. Think of it as the laid-back cousin of the flash-fast TCGs, with plenty of thrills built in.
This game isn’t just mine, it’s ours. I’ve set up a Discord where we can test new cards, share art, and maybe see player-created mechanics become “official.” I dream of community tournaments with sweet prizes, fan-designed expansions, and a tight-knit group of Vylmoria enthusiasts.
Next up: finalizing playtests, finding the right partners, lining up a Kickstarter, and getting these cards into your hands.
Can’t wait to see what we’ll build in Vylmoria!
